The adaptor was plugged into a standard wall outlet and it overheated, melted and caused the itouch to become damaged. I would not recommend using anything other than bonafide Apple adaptors

This does NOT work w/ 3G or 3GS iPhone or iPod Touch! This does work, however, w/ 2nd gen devices & is an actual Apple item, but these were issued by Apple to replace defective 2nd gen units (I verified this @ an Apple retail store). A chip in it recognizes 2nd gen but NOT 3rd gen devices (we tested this at my office, and this works w/ 2nd gen iPhone, but not 3GS iPhone or my 3rd gen iPod Touch). I bought a new one @ the Apple store, & no issues. I returned this one I purchased back to Amazon.

Not as advertised.
Evidently this does not have a high enough voltage output to charge some devices, even though others are rated at the same voltage. This is due to the lower current capability of this AC adapter.
It says Apple on it and has the green dot that is supposed to indicate it is Apple, but it must be a pitiful knock-off of what it supposed to be.
It makes the Kindle light come on as though it will charge the Kindle, but then it goes off. That’s more than the Kindle’s own AC adapter can do (nothing). Amazon won’t just send me a replacement, either.

I can’t use the phone while it is charging using this plug — menus don’t respond properly and the timing gets really off too. I will end up using it as only a severe backup… while travelling, but never at home.
