Android Froyo 2.2 on Nexus One: First Look

Blog post on this video: www.lamarrwilson.com This is a review on an unlocked T-Mobile Google Nexus One phone. I manually installed the update to 2.2 Saturday evening, and have had a full day to play with it. It’s super fast, and I have flash enabled. @LemonMerigueTie yea that kinda sucks, but if your contract ends this year, verizon will let you do a early smart lphone upgrade before Aug 2, im gonna do my upgrade on konday, i need an extra $25, but see if you can do that

    @LemonMerigueTie some phones get updates over the air, and some devices cant update, such as the here cant go to 2.1 i believe…..and all the phones are by google, thats why all the android phones get free google maps turn by turn features, other phone manufacturers would have to pay for that stuff…but anyways i believe tje only devices that can get 2.2 are ones that shipped with 2.1

    slow

    how much does the nexus one cost in the usa. It’s a freakin’ 800 euros here in europe. I’d rather buy the HTC desire which has the same specs and costs half of what the nexus one does :S

    Yeah it seems pretty fast, if you go to sleep while it loads. All these features are either superfluous or bug fixes. type “define:word” in google and you will get definitions – its just a button on a tool bar. I have no idea why google would make android so difficult to update but I guess they want to keep people in the dark.

    i hate this phone only cuz i dont have it. google is pretty much only focusing on making updates n shit for their own phone and none other. nexus 1 has already had a bunch of updates and im still running 1.5 on my eve ffs -.-

    Looks like that could get to be an interesting platform; Linux-based, of course. Any thoughts on the upcoming Android tablets?

    Nice post

  18. Lamarr says:

    @zach2589 But it doesn’t cost to tether on the Nexus One. And speed is relative to where you live, so the fanboy argument doesn’t apply here.

  19. Lamarr says:

    @eli365 The version is unofficial and has been pulled by Google. I’m not linking to it so you all will have to Google search for it. Best wishes!

  20. checo165 says:

    where do i download the 2.2 froyo update or i have to wait to get it?

  21. eli365 says:

    lamarr, thanks much for your help. i went on to one of the nexus forums to ask about getting 2.2 for my nexus and couldn’t get answers that i understood.
    I just looked at all the comments and didn’t see how i can get the 2.2 update. I think you said you got an official version of it. Where? Hope this isn’t too stupid a question. Thanks from the caribbean!

  22. zach2589 says:

    oh tethering on AT&T on an iPhone is much faster

  23. augustaboys says:

    @Lamarr lol Good reason :)

  24. Kiwiiixo says:

    @Lamarr Oh, I was listening for it, and didn’t hear it. I’m sorry, thank you. :]

    @Saurabhopithecus

    No, you can’t. If you do, you will pretty much brick your Droid.
